The phenomenal success of his inventive remake of Toto hit “Africa” launched Karl Wolf into the international spotlight, but this was far from a case of ‘overnight success syndrome’. This multi-talented Montrealer has long enjoyed serious peer and music industry respect in Canada as a producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and singer of true skill and vision.
Thanks to “Africa,” Karl Wolf’s music is now reaching the global marketplace, and his new album, Nightlife, dramatically confirms he’s the real deal.
He was born in war-torn Lebanon and raised in Dubai before moving to Montreal with his family when he was 16. Karl may now have achieved the international stardom he has worked for so diligently, but he’s not about to forget his roots.
In 2005 Wolf ventured into a solo career. He released his debut solo album Face Behind the Face"in January 2006. Wolf followed with a second studio album Bite the Bullet in November 2007. His song "Africa", a remake of the worldwide hit Africa by Toto ranked #2 in the Canadian Chart and #20 on the Japan Hot 100 chart in 2009. His follow up single that year titled Carrera climbed to peak at #39 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100.
In February 2010, he signed a record deal with Universal Republic Records for United States distribution. After great success in Canada, "Africa" will become the first single released in the United States through the Universal Republic record deal.
Karl Wolf's new album called Finally Free was released in 2012. He will be engaging also on a pan-Canadian and international tour to promote the album with Universal Music.
